Garmin MCP server for Claude and ChatGPT

5 min read · Updated 7 Oct 2026

Daash is a hosted Garmin MCP server. Add one address to Claude or ChatGPT, sign in to Garmin, and the assistant can read your runs, rides, sleep and recovery and put structured workouts on your watch. It’s free, open source, and there is nothing to install.

What MCP is, in one paragraph

The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is the open standard Claude and ChatGPT use to connect to other apps. An MCP server offers the assistant a set of tools, such as “get my last run” or “schedule this workout”, and the assistant decides when to use them while you chat. A Garmin MCP server is one whose tools reach Garmin Connect, so the answer to “why did Sunday’s long run feel hard?” comes from your actual heart rate, splits and sleep rather than a guess.

Hosted or run it yourself

Most Garmin MCP servers are projects you run on your own computer. That works on a desktop, but not from your phone, and it means keeping Python or Node and a config file in order. Daash runs the same open-source server for you.

What it can do

Reading is broad. Writing stays inside your workout library.

  • Activities: runs, rides, swims, walks and strength sessions, with splits, pace, heart-rate zones, cadence and running dynamics. Rides get speed, power, normalised power, intensity factor and training stress.
  • Recovery: training readiness, overnight HRV against its baseline, sleep, Body Battery, stress and resting heart rate.
  • Fitness: VO2 max, race predictions from 5K to marathon, lactate threshold, endurance and hill scores.
  • Workouts: structured runs, rides, swims and strength sessions with paces or heart-rate targets, scheduled to your Garmin calendar so the watch picks them up at its next sync.
  • Training plans: a whole block built at once, then checked week by week against what you actually did.

Set it up in two minutes

In Claude: Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, paste this address, and sign in to Garmin when Claude asks. On the phone app it’s the + beside the message box → Connectors.

In ChatGPT: switch on developer mode (Settings → Connectors → Advanced), then add the same address as a remote MCP server. ChatGPT needs a paid plan for this; Claude works on a free account. Step-by-step for both.

How it keeps your account safe

  • Your Garmin password is never stored. It goes straight to Garmin; only the access token Garmin issues is kept, encrypted.
  • Standard sign-in. Claude and ChatGPT connect with OAuth, the same sign-in flow other connectors use, so no secret link is passed around.
  • Your history is out of reach. No tool edits or deletes a recorded activity, however a request is worded.
  • Connect once. The connection renews itself, including through long breaks, until you disconnect, which deletes everything stored.

Questions

What is a Garmin MCP server?

A small service that lets an AI assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT read your Garmin Connect data and, if it allows it, write to it. MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is the open standard those assistants use to connect to other apps. Daash is a hosted one: you add its address to your assistant and sign in to Garmin.

Is there an official Garmin MCP server?

Not at the time of writing. Garmin hasn't published one, so every Garmin MCP server, Daash included, is independent and signs in to your own Garmin Connect account the way the Garmin Connect website does.

Do I need to install anything?

No. Daash is a remote MCP server: it runs on its own server, so there is no Python, Node or config file, and it works from the Claude and ChatGPT phone apps as well as the web and desktop.

Is it free?

Yes, with no subscription and no paid tier. A free Claude account can add it, as long as it is the only custom connector there, so remove any other first. ChatGPT needs a paid plan with developer mode switched on. The code is open source under the MIT licence.

Can I run the Garmin MCP server myself?

Yes. The same code runs locally for Claude Desktop, with your Garmin session kept in a file on your computer. The hosted version exists so nobody has to, and so it works on a phone.

Can it delete my runs?

No. Nothing in it edits or deletes a recorded activity. Writing is limited to your workout library: creating, scheduling, unscheduling and deleting workouts, and deleting always asks first.
