How to connect Garmin to ChatGPT
ChatGPT can’t see your Garmin on its own. Daash is a free, hosted, open-source connector that links the two: add it once, sign in to Garmin, and ChatGPT reads your runs, sleep and recovery and puts workouts on your watch. It works the same in Claude, free account included.
- About 2 minutes
- Free, hosted, open source
- ChatGPT and Claude
- Set up once on a computer
- Then works in the phone app
How’s my training going?
What you get: your training, answered in ChatGPT.
What you need
A paid ChatGPT plan
One that can add a custom MCP server. We've tested it on Plus. On a work plan, an admin may need to allow it.
A computer, once
The phone app can't add plugins. Set it up at chatgpt.com, then it works on your phone too.
Your Garmin Connect login
The account your watch syncs to, with its two-factor code if you use one.
See a plan before you connect anything
The card ChatGPT draws, with example data: the block week by week, every session with its paces, and what moves when you miss one. Yours is built from your own Garmin.
Build me a 12-week marathon plan and put it on my watch.

What ChatGPT can do once it’s connected
Explain a run
Splits, heart-rate zones and cadence, and why it felt the way it did.
Go hard or hold back
Today's call from your readiness, HRV and last night's sleep.
Put it on your watch
A structured workout or a whole training plan, scheduled to Garmin.
Track the block
Week by week, what was planned against what you actually ran.
If something doesn’t work
Your plan may not allow custom servers, or on a work plan an admin has turned them off.
Check the email is the one your watch syncs to. Garmin sometimes slows sign-ins down for a few minutes: wait a little and press Connect again.
Turn Daash on from the + menu in the chat, then ask again. It has to be on in each new chat.
Questions
OTHER GUIDEConnect Garmin to ClaudeUsing Claude instead? Four steps, and it works on a free account. How the Garmin MCP server worksWhich ChatGPT plans can add it?
Adding a custom MCP server needs a paid ChatGPT plan. We've tested Daash on ChatGPT Plus. On a work or team plan, an admin may need to allow custom servers first. Daash itself is free.
Can I set it up on my phone?
Not the first step: the ChatGPT phone app can't add plugins, so add Daash at chatgpt.com on a computer. After that it works in the phone app too.
Can ChatGPT see my past runs?
Yes. ChatGPT reads your Garmin Connect history: activities with their splits, heart rate and pace, plus sleep, HRV, training readiness, VO2 max and race predictions.
Is my Garmin password stored?
No. It goes straight to Garmin to sign you in. Daash keeps only the access token Garmin issues, encrypted, and disconnecting deletes it.
Why doesn't ChatGPT use my Garmin data?
Daash has to be switched on in each new chat, from the + menu. Once it's on, ask your question again.
Can ChatGPT change or delete my runs?
It never deletes a run or changes what your watch measured. When you ask, it can rename a run or add notes. Otherwise it writes only to your workout library: creating, scheduling and deleting planned workouts, and deleting always asks first.
Is this made by Garmin?
No. Daash is independent and isn't made or endorsed by Garmin. It connects to your own Garmin Connect account, with your permission.
