How to put a ChatGPT strength workout on your Garmin watch (2026)

3 min read · Updated 2 Nov 2026

Most runners know they should lift. Asking ChatGPT or Claude for a session is the easy part: split squats, calf raises, single-leg deadlifts. Getting it onto the watch, so it counts your sets and times your rests, is where it usually stops.

By hand

In the Garmin Connect app, under Training & Planning → Workouts, create a strength workout and add each exercise, finding it in Garmin’s list, with its sets, reps and rest. For a session of six exercises that’s a good ten minutes, and again each time the plan changes.

Let the assistant build it

With Daash connected, ChatGPT or Claude creates the workout in Garmin Connect for you, from Garmin’s own exercises, and puts it on the day you want.

  1. Add Daash to ChatGPT or Claude.
  2. Ask: “Build me a 30-minute strength session for runners, dumbbells only, and put it on Monday.”
  3. Sync your watch: the workout is there, exercise by exercise, with your rests timed.

Afterwards, ask how it went (“what did I lift on Monday?”) and it reads back the sets, reps and weights your watch recorded.

Questions

Can ChatGPT create a Garmin strength workout?

With a connector, yes. Daash builds the workout from Garmin's own exercise list, with sets, reps, rest and a target weight for each exercise, and can schedule it on your calendar so it syncs to the watch.

What if Garmin calls an exercise something else?

Daash matches the name to Garmin's catalogue. If a name could mean two movements, it says so and asks rather than guessing, because the wrong one would show on your watch.

Can it see what I lifted afterwards?

Yes, as far as your watch logged it. Ask about a gym session and it reads the sets Garmin recorded: each exercise with its reps and weight. The watch logs a set when you press the button at the end of it, so a session done without pressing it shows as one long set.

Can it fit strength around my running plan?

Yes. Ask for strength on your easy or rest days and it schedules the sessions there, away from your hard runs.
