How to send a ChatGPT workout or training plan to your Garmin watch (2026)

4 min read · Updated 27 Oct 2026

Asking ChatGPT or Claude for a marathon plan is easy. The trouble starts on Tuesday, when “6 × 800 m at 5K pace with 90 s jog” is a paragraph in a chat and your watch has no idea. There are two ways to get it there.

Option 1: rebuild each session by hand

  1. Ask for the plan with exact paces, distances and recoveries for each session.
  2. In the Garmin Connect app, go to Training & Planning → Workouts and create a run workout.
  3. Add each step (warm-up, intervals, recoveries, cool-down) with its target pace.
  4. Save it, schedule it on the day, and sync your watch.

It works, and it’s free. It’s also ten minutes per session, every week, and the plan never learns what you actually ran.

Option 2: let the assistant put it on your watch

A connector gives ChatGPT or Claude access to Garmin Connect. Daash is one, free and hosted: add it once, sign in to Garmin, and the assistant can read your recent runs and write the plan straight onto your Garmin calendar.

  1. Add Daash to ChatGPT or Claude (about two minutes).
  2. Ask: “Build me a 16-week plan for the marathon on 12 April, from my recent running, and put it on my Garmin.”
  3. Check the plan it proposes, ask for changes, then say go.
  4. Sync your watch: each session is there, with your paces in it.

Because the assistant can read what you ran, you can come back each week (“how did the week go? adjust next week”) and it rewrites the sessions on your calendar.

Questions

Can ChatGPT send workouts to my Garmin watch?

Not on its own. ChatGPT can write a plan as text, but it can't reach Garmin Connect. With a connector such as Daash added, it can create each session as a structured workout and schedule it on your Garmin calendar, so it syncs to the watch.

Do I need a paid ChatGPT plan?

To add a custom connector to ChatGPT, yes. Claude works with a free account if Daash is your only custom connector.

Will the workouts have my paces in them?

Yes. Each session is written with targets in your own paces, heart rate or power, taken from your recent training, so the watch tells you when to speed up or ease off.
