How to analyse your Garmin runs with ChatGPT or Claude (2026)
4 min read · Updated 2 Nov 2026Garmin Connect shows you a run: the map, the splits, a heart rate graph. What it doesn’t do is tell you what the run meant. Was that tempo too hard? Did you fade on the long run, or was it the hill? ChatGPT and Claude can answer that, once they can see the run.
The copy-and-paste way
You can screenshot your splits or export a file and paste it into a chat. It works for one run, but the assistant only sees what you gave it: no heart rate per lap, no earlier runs to compare with, and you do it again every time.
The connected way
Add a connector and the assistant reads Garmin Connect itself. With Daash, free and hosted, it gets each run’s laps with pace, heart rate, cadence and power, the reps of an interval session, how your heart rate drifted within each lap, pace on climbs and descents, the weather at the time, the shoes you wore, and earlier runs on the same route.
- Add Daash to ChatGPT or Claude (about two minutes).
- Ask about a run in your own words.
- Ask a follow-up: it remembers the run you’re talking about.

What to ask
- “How did this morning’s intervals go? Were the reps even?”
- “Did I fade on Sunday’s long run, or was it the hills?”
- “Was yesterday’s easy run actually easy?”
- “Compare my last three long runs.”
- “Is this my fastest time on this loop?”
- “Was it the heat? My heart rate was high for the pace.”
The answer comes back in plain words, with the numbers that matter. Each run also comes with a link to an image of it, sized for a Strava photo or an Instagram story.
Questions
Can ChatGPT read my Garmin runs?
Not on its own: it can't reach Garmin Connect. With a connector such as Daash added, it reads your activities directly, including laps, heart rate, pace, power, weather and the shoes you wore.
Do I have to export a file or paste my splits?
No. Once Daash is connected, ask about a run in plain words ("how did this morning's intervals go?") and the assistant fetches it from Garmin itself.
Does it understand interval sessions?
Yes. When your watch ran a structured workout, Garmin marks the warm-up, recoveries and cool-down, and Daash reads the reps between them: how many, their pace and heart rate, and the fastest and slowest.
Can it compare a run with earlier ones?
Yes. It finds earlier runs on the same route and ranks this one among them, and it can line up your last few long runs or tempo sessions side by side.
